TM M14 Hop Strip down and rebuild Guide
Please use this guide as a helpful tool for when you need to upgrade your rifle. The TM M14 Hop Strip down and rebuild Guide should be used as a guide only and we cannot take any responsibility if you lack the knowledge or tools to carry out the task competently.
Remove the barrel and hop from the rifle with the use of my other guide.
On a flat large surface lie the barrel down and then you can get to work.
Remove the spring off the barrel and store on a flat surface
Carefully remove the spring from the lever. Best ways to do this is by holding your finger on top of the lever and then with your other hand slowly move the lever out of the way; the spring should not ping out then.
Remove the barrel locking clip.
Now push the small pin out of the lever. Be careful as it comes out as it can stick.
Remove the1st part of the lever.
Punch The other pin out from the other part of the lever
Remove the lever as it now should be loose.
Remove the little piece that transfers the lever to the hop nub.
Remove the hop nub, this can sometimes stick so just be patience and flick it out carefully as not to loose it.
Slide the barrel and hop rubber out of the unit, being very careful not to trap the rubber or tear it.
Now you can remove the hop rubber off the barrel and finally the little brass ring.
If you’re installing new parts, obtain them now.
Clean the barrel before we go any further, if unsure how to consult my other guide in routine tasks.
1st start by installing the brass ring and then the hop rubber, Make sure you line the raised part of the rubber with the slot on the barrel.
Slide the hop unit onto the barrel very carefully making sure you align the hub and cut out for the hop with the cut out on the unit.
Now place the nub on top of the transfer piece as this makes it easier to align and install.
Install the little unit into the hop up unit and then looking down the barrel into a light source (not the sun) press the lever transfer part and check it applied hop to the rubber and if it’s aligned central. If not twist the barrel slightly until it’s more central.
Now re-install the lever and pin careful not to knock the transfer piece out of the hop unit.
Now re-install the spring and adjustment lever (careful as the spring can ping out still).
Insert the pin carefully watching the spring in case It tries to ping out.
Re-insert the Locking tab and your nearly all finished
Put the large spring back onto the barrel and make sure the brass ring is securely inside the hop unit as it stops any wobble in the unit.
PLEASE ONLY ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU’RE CONFIDENT. I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILIES FOR PROBLEMS OR BREAKAGES.
